You know the saying ‘monkey see monkey do’?
Well it 100% does not apply to ROAR strategy design and social media.
I spend a huge chunk of my time mentoring businesses on how to use social media as a marketing tool. And more often then not, they ask me ‘how often do you post? I should be setting a good example for my clients’ right?
Well truthfully, I am horrible at my own social media.
I suspect it has something to do with the fact that I am paid to manage other businesses social media pages so mine, unfortunately, is at the bottom of the food chain.
So here are some very free bits of advice from someone who knows what they are talking about but unfortunately doesn’t heed her own advice. (But I promise I am going to get better).
Social media is ALL about being interactive! You want to keep front of mind and you want to engage a consumer so they not only get a positive impression of who you are, but remember you and your brand later down the track. Because of this, it is important that you are keeping up a consistent presence on all your social media platforms.
Facebook: I like to see a business posting 4-5 times a week on Facebook but it really varies dependent on what type of content you are dishing out. For example, if you are posting interesting and engaging content that your consumers are heavily interacting with, post more.
Twitter: Uses a completely different tone to Facebook and it is restricted to a small amount of characters. Because of this, Tweet more frequently. One to three times a day is the perfect amount to get the most out of your Twitter followers.
Pinterest: Ideally, pinning for 5 minutes a couple of times a day will get you well on your way to bulk followers! Be consistent!
Blogging: Now this seems to be where I lag. Ideally you should be writing an engaging blog once a week! If you have more content and you find you are getting a great response, blog more! There is nothing stopping you! Your blogs should be around the 350 words mark.
Hopefully this helps you, I am really hoping that admitting I suck at my own social media will help me!
